What Does God Want?

Living by rules, laws and religion is not how the Lord wants us to live.

And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee,
but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him,
and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
to keep the commandments of the Lord, and His statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
Deuteronomy 10:12-13

A good son does not need the law, "The law was not made for the righteous man" 1 Timothy 1:9.

My son,
if thou wilt receive My words, and hide My commandments with thee;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
Proverbs 2:1-5

A good son loves his father and would never do anything that would disgrace him. His obedience is motivated by love, not law.

My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord;
neither be weary of His correction:
For whom the Lord loveth He correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
Proverbs 3:11-12

The ones that need the law are the lawless and disobedient, 1 Timothy 1:9.

He taught me also, and said unto me,
Let thine heart retain My words: keep My commandments, and live.
Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not;
neither decline from the words of My mouth.
Proverbs 4:4-5

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth;
but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,
and then thou shalt have good success.
