The (potential) Treachery of Doctrine > My way, or the highway >

Got it all figured out?

- You have read the Bible cover-to-cover. Good for you. Kudos.
- You read up on doctrine and apologetics. Good.
- You arrived at a position on nearly any biblical topic, or doctrine. Check.
- Now you are ready to kick some butt. Say what?

What's wrong with this picture?
Is this why we read the Bible and study?

Do we measure maturity by personal KNOWLEDGE, or by personal TRANSFORMATION ?

Jesus wasn’t “doctrine free.” It is his way or the highway. There’s nothing treacherous about it.

“After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear there iniquities.”

(Isaiah 53:11, NIV)

I was going to post this in another thread that has been active this evening, and still might, but it fits well here.

The OP is offering us, I’m suggesting, a false proposition. The measurement isn’t between one or the other; between [personal] knowledge and [personal] transformation. It’s both.

Without knowledge there is no transformation.
