Jesus Makes Us Right with God, not law and Religion

We are MADE right with God. We do not become right with God by law keeping and religion.

"For as by one man's disobedience (Adam) many were MADE sinners, so by the obedience of one (Christ) shall many be MADE righteous" Romans 5:19.

Jesus as our representative and substitute makes us right with God, because our humanity was constituted in him. Just as we were lost by a representative, so we will be saved by a representative.

"Therefore, as by the offence of one (Adam) judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one (Christ) the FREE GIFT came upon ALL MEN unto justification of life" Romans 5:18.

Religion is instructions on how you can save yourself. If you were drowning in the ocean, would you want the lifeguard to run up and down on the beach telling you how to save yourself? Our would you want him to jump in the water and rescue you? Jesus has come into the world to save us.

Jesus saves and he saves to the uttermost, Hebrews 7:25. We don't need instructions on how we can save ourselves. We need a savior, someone that will save us from the demands of the law. The law demands perfection, we are not perfect, we are sinners, Romans 3:20.

"Moreover, the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace (Christ) did much more abound" Romans 5:20.

The law and the commandments will not save us, instead they condemn us. This is why Paul wrote,

"Therefore, by the deeds of the law (what you do) there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin" Romans 3:20.

The Gospel is good news to those that are burdened with sin, but it is bad news to those that reject it or don't believe it. Paul said, "The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation" Romans 1:16. It is also the power of God unto judgment and condemnation. Faith in the Gospel is the entrance into eternal life, but for those that reject it, it is the entrance into judgement and eternal damnation. The Gospel is the means by which God saves those that believe. It is also the means by which God will judge unbelievers. All that have embraced the Gospel as their only means of salvation are granted the Holy Spirit. In the judgment God will recognize his Spirit and will grant them eternal life. Those that are void of the Holy Spirit are the lost.
