Gen 1
6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8 And God called the (firmament / Earth) Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

The word "firmament" can translate as (ground, land, Earth, World.

Sky is not a firmament.

Firmaments in heaven are planets.



Genesis 1:14
And God said, Let there be lights in the (firmaments / planets / a luminous body) of the (heaven-s / sky-ies) to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
 
In Genesis 1:2 you will find that the earth was without form and void.
  • Without form means that it lacked any features
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. Isa 53:2​

  • Void means the absence of any living substance
and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth. Gen 7:4​
 
You will also find in Genesis 1:2 that darkness was upon the face of the deep.

  • The term darkness in this passage infers the substance of space.
the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. Job 26:7​

  • The face of the deep refers to the waters upon the earth
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. Ps 104:6​
 
And in conclusion of Genesis 1:2 you will find that the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

  • The face of the waters refers to the upper surface of the waters beneath
The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen. Job 38:30​

Hanging the earth on nothing is a dust cloud.
If you're talking about outer space, there is no such thing.
You wouldn't have any air to breathe.

I guess you have never looked out of a telescope if you don't believe in outer space.
 
What is the "firmament" under the water? And what holds the water in at the lakes in the upper elevations?


The Pagan understanding of the bible is ignorant in the extreme. To top everything off, we had Pagans translate the bible.


Pagans thought the heavens were a solid mass.
 
The different types of firmaments is, sand, rock, ore, clay, and dirt.

Pagans believed that the heavens were solid so their gods could walk around.

The firmament was the earth's atmosphere.
