Forty Days

And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said,
Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

Jonah 3:4

40 days - Jonah/Nineveh - Jonah 3

So Jonah arose and went to Ninevah, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh wasn't exceedingly great city, tree days journey in breadth. Jonah began to go into the city, going on a day's journey. And he called out, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown! And the people of Nineveh believed God. They called for a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them.

So far we have:

Goliath taunting of the Israelite army
Rain days of Noah's Ark flood
Moses on Mt. Sinai (twice)
Jesus appearing to many after His resurrection
Jesus tempted by the Devil
The 12 Israelites spied out Canaan
Elijah refreshes for his journey to Horeb
Judgement of Nineveh

Jesus didn't just "appear" for 40 days. He was teaching everything necessary from Moses and the scriptures about his resurrection's place in history. That's where all the content from the 20-odd passages used from Acts 2 to 15, especially Ps 2, 16, 110, 118. They realized then that the resurrection was his enthronement and Israel first was supposed to serve/follow him as the new Moses, Acts 3, or suffer overwhelming loss.

And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father:
and the physicians embalmed Israel.
And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed:
and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.

Genesis 50:2-3
