Is heaven only for Christians? - That's convenient

This was the "Why only us?" question I had to grapple with as a young adult.

Is it true? Heaven in only for Christians? What does that even mean?

I remember a graffito in college:

If only Christians go to Heaven,
Then I'd rather go to Hell.

Graffiti not withstanding, I got into big trouble over on CB for suggesting that the Sheep-and-Goat judgment clearly said that, 1) The Son of Man has the sovereign authority to let into His Kingdom anybody He wants; 2) The criteria He is going to use is who showed mercy to those He considers His "Brothers and Sisters" and who didn't. Furthermore, if the Son of Man considers me one the least of His brothers, I would have to speak up in favor of a couple of Muslim families and a Jewish family who had taken me into their homes and provided food when we needed it.

Oops. Can't have Jewish and Muslim families in the Kingdom no matter what Jesus said.

Good point. I don't think the narrow evangelical, or even Catholic view is considering the complexity of what will happen. (even from the biblical view)

Another, added to the Thou Shalt Not list of topics! :ROFLMAO:

Come on Joker.... Stop trying to turn Jesus into someone who understands humanity.

The funny thing is that principle number 1, that Jesus Christ has the authority to decide who's in and who's out, that principle is so completely basic to Christianity that it should not be in the least bit controversial to almost all Christians regardless of denomination. Then it becomes a question of, "Did Jesus mean what He said and say what He meant?"

But the principle of "you have to believe what we believe to be saved" runs deep.

Deep like cancer. Not like skin cancer, only on the surface. Like cancer of the bowels. That deep.

I think a lot of people think of heaven as a big ol' retirement home in the sky. Or an endless vacation resort.

God help us.
I had a dream that I went to heaven. (that's how I knew it was a dream)
When I arrived they put me to work right away. There I was at an outdoor grill flipping burgers.
To my amazement Jesus walked up to my grill with his plate. I asked him, "How do you like it?"
He gave me a puzzled look and replied, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
