“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul is writing his second letter to the Corinthians, back then in his day and age. About how they should each examine themselves if they are in the faith.

Why? To prove to themselves they are of the Faith in the Gospel of Christ.

He goes on to say, know you not your own selves? Meaning do you not know your own self being in the faith or not in the faith?

Why? As an admonishment, for encouraging them to shine a light on their own hearts inwardly to believe and understand that Jesus Christ lives within them, (spirit of Christ).

Paul goes on to add atleast they be reprobates - meaning from the Webster Dictionary; a person who is depraved (not fully believing or trusting in faith); and also unprincipled person.

Paul had shared the gospel with everyone around the world he had known and knew and all heard the gospel. However Paul is addressing here a keep principle for all people to examine themselves.

Paul is suggesting here now for us even today in this age, to examine your own heart, and check whether or not you are of the faith. In how a person should know that Jesus Christ lives with-in them.

Paul goes on to say; I trust that you should know that you are not reprobates. Meaning that they are not depraved from the living God; they are of Faith in the Gospel of Christ which is the power of God unto Salvation, and that they are principled on the notions of having learned the Gospel about the Lord Jesus in which Paul shared and taught, also expounding even further the difference between flesh and spirit in the Apostolic records.

Hope this helps anyone that may view, and take time to read.

God bless and take care,

Matthew.

Paul speaks about examining yourself to see if Christ is in you. My belief on what Paul is saying is that if you don't know if Christ is in you and you have to examine yourself, then he probably is not in you. We must know if we are living through his Spirit by obeying his words that are Spirit.

When a person lives though Christ lives and Christ lives through them, it is by obeying Christ.

People know if they are obeying Christ as they live their lives.

Paul was worried about some people in Corinthians. He was afraid that some weren't saved, because they never repented of their sins.
