Born again - Before, or After, the Call?

I really only meant to answer the question at face value. I wasn't implying anything. :) .

Withholding Evidence - Is the church guilty?

Correct I was raised Southern Baptist, but my Father wouldn't allow me to be baptized when I had my initial conversion experience at age 8. I've never had any other affiliations of any kind. I don't have any particular disappointments in the SB Convention, although I do wish they had kept the...

Withholding Evidence - Is the church guilty?

I try to keep my disappointments in my church to myself. I know that all churches disappoint and I don't wish to bring ill-repute on any unless they are systemically flawed (I feel this is the only way to justly judge a collective) and that my silence would contribute to the ruin of souls. :) .

Godly character - off the cuff

It looks like we're talking about spiritual fruit here so I'll pick the one I'm lousy at—self-control or "temperance," as the King James puts it. Self-control or temperance is traditionally defined as moderation in things that are good for us and abstinence from the things that are harmful...

Why bumblebees can't fly - Say what?

Kind of like one of these: The guys who worked on the flight line all day used to say "C-5s should not fly." Evidently they cannot glide and would drop like a lead ball if all 4 engines were stalled. .

Born again - Before, or After, the Call?

You're really lighting the place up aren't you, Buddy? :) I've never really understood the before-or-after controversy and the related "Romans 7&8 men" arguments. (I find it interesting that 1 John itself debunks the extreme, radical holiness/sinlessness fringe's assertions, derived largely...

    What makes a doctrine false?

I've already gone further off-topic than I'm comfortable with, and I find these appeals to be far too much like the questions the serpent asked of Eve in Eden. Sorry—I can't oblige. .

    What makes a doctrine false?

Genesis 3:15 — And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. .

    What makes a doctrine false?

Indeed. The hope of/for mercy and justice, on free and full display at Calvary, but replaced by the global culture of today with the hopelessness of oppression and protest. It was even so in the time of Christ on Earth. The protesters of Jerusalem were consumed by their Roman oppressors because...

    What makes a doctrine false?

I'm afraid this doesn't clear up much of anything for me (I'm assuming that was your intention?). What role, if any, does the mind of God Himself play in forming correct teaching about any theological matter? Are we talking relativism, pluralism, or something else as a standard for biblical...
