Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon?

Somewhat semantics. There is cultural law and moral law. Today, cultural law is driving in America on the RHS. There is nothing inherently immoral about driving on the LHS. In fact, other cultures reverse this tradition. By contrast, few countries disregard the moral law prohibiting murder.

Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon?

Yes. I’ve written extensively about this on another forum. The Sabbath is the 1st commandment God gave us, a divine gift.

I’ve heard this before and reject it out of hand. The commandment strictly prohibits idol-making while only addressing one form, graven images. Iconoclasm. There is a difference between art and worshipping one’s own work.

Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon?

Agreed. Ever hear of necessary precision? For a given context, the same level of precision is not necessary. For instance, I’ve heard my whole life - 1/2 a century - that Jesus lived 2,000 years ago. It’s not a precise number, right? Yes, the TC technically only apply to the Hebrews at Mt...

Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon?

I have no doubt he did. However, not for us to break the 1C & 2C with it. ^^ This is the IDOLATRY I was referring to. There are many outstanding books that have truth in them and any intelligent person would benefit from implementing the wisdom they contain. The Machinery's Hanbook, for one...

No. I complimented you that you made such a good point about Hebrews 10 that it deserved its own thread. Rather than start one, you posted an existing thread on a different topic. As I said, so be it.

I guess you don't want to start a thread about Hebrews 10. So be it.

@Mr E, I listened to Alec Trabeg on Moody radio at lunch time and he referenced this verse. Who was Jesus telling us to fear? Was Jesus painting a picture of a reckless, irresponsible, error-prone God, called Yahweh? And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear...

I meant a deep dive in Hebrews 10 - not your contempt for the attributes of God you do not like.

Not at all. Not sure the parsing of God the Father, whose name is YHWH. The one Supreme Being is our Father who loves us. For those who do not embrace his son and thereby doomed themselves, this very same Being is not only their Creator but hates them and is their judge and Destroyer as their...

1st, it is YHWH’s way or the highway. We say he is all powerful and almighty without grasping it means he has all the power. All the power. 2nd, it is not sad but the glory of God the Father. As Truman said, ‘the buck stops here.’ There is no negotiation with YHWH. Jesus tried to get him to...

He is the law. A tyrant goes outside the law. Heaven is not a democracy, where majority - or you rule. It is an absolute dictatorship where YHWH rules - but delegated rule of his kingdom to his Anointed. It’s his universe; you are just living in it. Welcome to reality.
